Anne Freed

Summary

Anne is a Senior Family Law Lawyer and Mediator and has practiced Law for the past 40 years. In her first 20 years of practice, her focus was on Divorce Litigation - resolving her clients' matters through the Courts. In Anne's boutique practice, she was often the David to Goliath (the large firms) with an almost perfect track record of Court victories.

Anne began to see that, although she won the majority of her Court cases, Anne's clients were not happy. This is because there is no win-win in her view in Family Law and often the relationships must continue when there are children. Therefore, Anne evolved her practice into a Mediation, Negotiation, Collaborative, and Arbitration focus.

Anne accomplished a Masters of Law in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) so as to further her education in the Mediation field. Anne's studies gave her the opportunity to reflect on the many ethical issues present in an ADR practice. It is crucial, in Anne's view, that Mediators be consciously aware of the ethical issues in order to establish a critical foundation for a fair and successful Mediation Practice.

Anne writes frequent articles on important issues in Family Law and Mediation, geared for the non-lawyer. In these, she makes very complicated concepts in Family Law 'simple' and easy to understand for the non-lawyer public.
