Summary

Hilary practised family and civil litigation in Toronto for 14 years before founding her family dispute resolution business, Riverdale Mediation Ltd., in 2001.

Riverdale provides affordable family mediation, arbitration and parenting coordination for separating couples, working with those who have legal representation and those who do not.

Riverdale also is also well-known for its family mediation, arbitration and parenting coordination training and internship programs, all leading to Certification with the OAFM (for mediation) and the Family Dispute Resolution Institute (FDRIO) for mediation, arbitration and parenting coordination. Riverdale has successfully trained, interned and mentored dozens of students seeking their Acc. FM designation with the OAFM.

Hilary's training focuses on teaching professionals how to provide FDR services that are fair, safe, balanced and informed processes of self-determination. She has shared her expertise on Screening for Power Imbalances and Domestic Violence with FDR professionals across Canada, the US, Europe and South Africa. Her Riverdale teaching team has also trained civic leaders throughout the Caribbean in community mediation through IMPACT Justice, Access to Justice in the Caribbean.

Since 2011 Hilary has been selected by the Ministry of the Attorney General to provide court-connected family information and mediation services in Toronto's Superior Court of Justice at 393 University Ave and its Ontario Courts of Justice at 311 Jarvis St and 47 Sheppard Ave.

She is a long-time OAFM member and former director, a Founder and director of FDRIO and a recipient of the Ontario Bar Association's Award of Excellence in ADR.

Outside of work Hilary enjoys teaching cross-country skiing as a Certified CANSI Instructor and organizing back-country canoe and backpacking trips.
