Qualifications for Accredited Family Mediators
OAFM offers family mediators the opportunity to become accredited as Accredited Family Mediators, Acc.FM (OAFM).
To become an accredited family mediator, a person must have obtained a university degree or FMC certification, completed 40 hours of basic mediation training, 20 hours of skills development, 14 hours of domestic violence education, have relevant experience, 100 hours of supervised mediation and completed 5 family cases to agreement. S/he must carry at least $1,000,000 of mediator professional liability insurance.
To maintain this accreditation a mediator must take at least 10 hours of continuing education each year.

A mediator cannot become an Acc. FM (OAFM) unless s/he has first been an Associate Member for a period of time.
