Background:
The Child and Family Services Act was recently amended to pave the way to resolve child protection cases through collaborative inclusive solutions, such as child protection mediation. These new measures require children's aid societies to consider alternative dispute resolution processes, such as mediation, in situations where a child may be in need of protection.
Instructor:
Linda Crush, LL.B, LL.M is an Accredited Family Mediator (OAFM) and a Certified Comprehensive, Family Relations and Financial Mediator (FMC). She has extensive training in mediation and collaborative lawyering. She teaches internationally, most notably in South Africa, and in Canada at Queen's University Faculty of Law. Ms. Crush has an in-depth relationship with the family court system and service providers in southeast Ontario. She established Accord Mediation Services in 2002, a private mediation firm, which provides a range of services from intra-family disputes to custody and access. Ms. Crush has taught two of the inaugural Child Protection Mediation courses in Ontario.
