Tribute to Professor Roger Fisher

OAFM is supporting the tribute to Roger Fisher, co-author of "Getting To Yes", a founding father of interest-based negotiations

A tribute to Prof. Roger Fisher (co-author of "Getting to Yes") will be held in Toronto on Thursday, September 27th, 5:30 - 7:30 pm.

The Tribute will be held the evening prior to an International Centre for Dispute Resolution (the international division of the American Arbitration Association) arbitration conference on Friday, September 28th, and a London Court of International Arbitration Conference on Saturday, September 29th. The conferences will feature national and international speakers.

The Canadian organizations that are leading the Tribute are the Ontario Bar Association, ADR Institute of Canada, The Advocates' Society, and The Law Society of Upper Canada.

Other Canadian and International organizations involved in the dispute resolution field are supporting organizations for the Tribute. So far CPR International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution, CEDR (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution), The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (North American Branch), the ICDR, the International Law Association (Canadian Branch), Conflict Resolution Network, Union Internationale des Avocats, and the International Bar Association Mediation Committee have agreed to lend their names and support to the Tribute, and be co-presenters of The Lifetime Achievement Award that will be presented to Prof. Fisher.

It is expected that several other Canadian and international organizations will become supporting organizations.

TRIBUTE FORMAT. The Tribute program will begin with a substantive educational presentation by a panel involving a combination of Roger's colleagues and possibly a high-profile person with whom Roger and others at the Harvard Program on Negotiation and Conflict Management Inc. have worked on a significant international matter.

The next phase of the program will be the tribute phase in which words of tribute to Roger would be presented. There will be both live speakers and a video presentation. There also will be the presentation to Roger of a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Tribute will conclude with a cocktail reception.
